In the process of making chocolate chip cookies, there is nothing more boring than the shape of standard chocolate chips. Purchasing a solid block of chocolate and making your own chunks really transforms the cookies into something much more exciting. Cookies aside, shavings from a solid block of chocolate does really well on some ice cream or frozen yogurt. Without wanting to go to Fairway in Manhattan I have been desperate to find Callebaut chocolate in or near Astoria until recently. It did involve stepping slightly out of Astoria to the adjacent Long Island City but it’s well worth the trip.
